Google, Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla Working Together To Make a Faster Web Browser

Google, Microsoft, Apple and Mozilla have come together to develop a faster web browser by using their combined effort.
They are developing a new binary code format named WebAssembly(WASM) for faster browsers.Faster web browsing can now be acheived with the help of features like Typescript (Microsoft) or asm.js (Mozilla).

WASM, which aims at increasing aims at increasing the speed and efficiency with which browsers compile, parse, and render Web applications and WebPages as compared to text-based JavaScript and asm.js. Engineers from the companies have formed the informal W3C community group, Web Assembly CG, to further development.

WebAssembly will be executed inside the JavaScript engine and can be decoded much faster. Additionally, it will also provide developers with a single compilation target for the web that will finally become a universal standard in all functioning browsers.
According to Microsoft.net, there has long been a call for a bytecode machine-level instruction set for the Web, and WebAssembly is not the first bytecode system for the Web. However, it is aimed to be the first widely-accepted bytecode to be directly included into the rendering engines of all browsers rather than requiring separate plugins.

Binary code is faster to decode than higher level, text-based code, and can also be better compressed. While WebAssembly may be used for parts of the Web applications that usually require compression, JavaScript and asm.js will continue to be used to write lighter elements like UI. Early tests of the binary format code show it is more than 20 percent faster at being decoded as compared to asm.js code.
During the early stages of development, the team from all the tech giants will be planning to start something called a ‘polyfill library’ that will translate WebAssembly code into JavaScript so that it becomes compatible with any browser, even without those without native WebAssembly support. As time goes on, more and more tools are going to be built, ranging from compilers to debuggers and finally more languages such as Go and C# can be added.

The final aim with WebAssembly is to create a Web standard used by all browsers, both desktop and mobile, that will allow for decoding that is fast enough to enable Web applications to work with performance related to native applications.

Microsoft Confirms Windows 10 Is The End Of The Line

Sorry Windows fans, it looks like we’re all going to have to come to grips with the fact the Windows 10 is the end of line and there will be no Microsoft 11. The iconic operating system is installed on over 90% of computers world-wide, but it was confirmed at the Microsoft Ignite conference in Chicago this month when Jerry Nixon stated that Windows 10 is the “last version.”

Instead of releasing a brand new version of its desktop OS every few years, Microsoft is taking a page out of Apple’s playbook as the company shifts focus to providing continuous updates to their software. Windows will become more of a service than something you have to go purchase at the store in order to upgrade. For the first time in Microsoft’s history, Windows 10 will be available as a free upgrade this July for any current Windows 7 and up users. After upgrading to Windows 10, users will then be able to download regular updates from Microsoft and other sources.
Views regarding software and updates have changed exponentially over the last few years, and it has everything to do with the rise of smartphones and tablets, hence Windows announcement and shift in how it wants to operate – at least regarding Windows. We’ve grown accustomed to having apps updated frequently and rapidly. Waiting years for a company to tweak something just doesn’t fly anymore and Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella knows this.
At Satya Nadella’s Microsoft, it’s time to leave the past behind and start taking a cloud-first mobile-first approach. Windows will employ a strategy to split up core components and deliver faster updates, similar to how a mobile operating system works. So, while Windows 10 may be the “end of line” it certainly doesn’t mean Microsoft is throwing in the towel. It just means they’re making a proactive move to stay in the game, stay competitive, and join us in the 21st century.
It’s also rumored that after the launch of Windows 10, Microsoft will soon be ready to release it’s next update, codenamed Redstone. The fact that there will be no Windows 11 isn’t as big of a letdown knowing this, now is it?

Windows 10 Will Log You in Using Biometric

Windowas 10 Biometric Log in
Microsoft is going to introduce a new feature with WINDOWS 10.it will use biometric data to unlock your computer. Apart from a scan of your whole face, it will also reportedly allow you to login with a retinal scan as well as a read of your fingerprint(s). This feature will be known as Windows Hello.
Microsoft is doing this due to the ease with which passwords are hacked, and while no system is completely foolproof, this move certainly seems to be a step in the right direction.
Even Macbook have not started the above feature. So we are excited to use windows 10.
Apart from the biometric data feature, Cortana will also be available as a digital assistant.
The release date of Windows 10 is still unknown, but hopefully it’ll be sometime this year. Are you excited for the new operating system?

Convert Android to Windows 10

Yesterday Microsoft announced that its new and the most advanced operating system Windows 10 is coming to the devices this summer. The operating system will be released across the 190 countries of the world in 111 languages.
Along with this announcement, Microsoft didn’t forget to surprise the users. Microsoft hinted at the ongoing development of a software that converts the Android phones to Windows 10 devices.
Microsoft is gearing up for the upcoming summer launch and it also includes newer prospects for Windows Phone operating system. The software maker revealed that it is testing the Windows 10 for phones with the select Xiaomi Mi 4 “power users.” Further, Microsoft mentioned that this isn’t a partnership but just seeking help from the company for trials.
This switch isn’t some kind of dual boot option. This will be possible due a Windows based ROM. This ROM will be like customizing the Android phone completely with Windows 10 flavor and will allow native Windows 10 like experience on Android phones.
Microsoft is partnering with China’s Xiaomi and it should be noted that people in China are more inclined towards the customization of phones by installing ROMs.
Microsoft said that it is committed to release the software globally to all the users.

Windows 10 Release Date: Coming in Summer for 190 Countries and 111 Languages

Earlier it was expected that Windows 10 wouldn’t arrive till October. But, now you won’t have to wait that long. Today Microsoft made an official announcement of the upcoming launch of Windows 10 launch. This happened at the Windows Hardware Engineering Community (WinHEC) summit in Shenzhen, China.
The software giant hasn’t given an official date but said that it will be release this summer. The most advanced and complete Windows OS will be released in 190 countries and 111 languages.
The official blog post by Microsoft says:

The millions of Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 customers will be getting this offer. This free offer is valid just for a year, after that users will have to pay some undisclosed amount of yearly subscription fee.
Microsoft also announced specific partnerships with the PC manufacturers in China. Lenovo, world’s biggest computer manufacturer will offer Windows 10 upgrade service at 2,500 stores and centers in China. Lenovo will also manufacture Windows phones after the release.
This week has been flooded with Microsoft’s announcements and Windows 10 news. Couple of days ago, it was confirmed that Windows 10 will be saving large disk space up to 15GB on PCs owing to the newer data compression technology.
Following the footsteps of Torrent’s file sharing technique, Microsoft will now be releasing updates for Windows 10 using the peer-to-peer technology. This will ensure the faster and more frequently release of updates for Windows 10 systems. Watch the video from Microsoft how it’s is growing at a fast pace to make a mark on the growing internet of things space.

Wireless Charging (started in UK)

Starbucks has announced that visitors to the coffee chain in the UK will be able to charge their mobile phones wirelessly. The initiative is being rolled out initially in 10 Starbucks cafes in the UK by the end of January. The free service is following a pledge made in the US to allow similar service beginning in San Francisco with a national roll out across 2,000 branches across the US.
Currently, there are two competing wireless charging standards available and Starbucks has chosen Duracell’s Powermat. The service requires users to plug in an adapter to their phone in order to charge it. The devices, which are ring-shaped, will be available to borrow or to purchase for £10 each. The adapters will be offered for the new lightning and old 30 pin Apple variants, along with those phones that use the micro USB standard.
In order for a phone to charge efficiently, they must be placed on specially equipped tables, which Starbucks are installing into the branches across the UK’s capitol city.

Microsoft Office Apps for Android Released

A few weeks back, Microsoft released a preview version of their Office for Android apps. The time has now arrived for the guys over at Redmond to bring the final versions to the Google Play Store. Now you can download the finalised versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint to your 7 – 10 inch Android tablet. If you do own a tablet that is 10.1 inches or larger, then you are going to have to pay $6.99 a month or more for an Office 365 subscription.

The basic system requirements for downloading the apps include minimum sized 7-inch tablet running Android 4.4 KitKat or above. The tablet must also have an ARM-based processor and 1GB
of RAM or more.
When you first launch any of the apps, you will have to sign up or log in to your Microsoft account. This is the only way that you can edit, save or print your documents. The apps are free, so most folks shouldn’t have an issue with this. As previously mentioned, if you need to have the subscription service due to your tablet size, then you will also receive Microsoft’s premium features such as tracking changes in Word and being able to view the “Presenter View” in the PowerPoint app; not to mention the ability to sync documents across devices.
The UI with the apps is nice, and all of the new Office apps have a similar layout in the home screen. Your recently opened documents will be placed on the left column and on the bottom of that left column is a link to open other documents.
The templates for your new documents will be on the right hand side. It is worth mentioning that Word and Excel will work in both portrait and landscape modes on your device but PowerPoint is strictly a landscape-only app. For storage you can save your files either on your device locally, on your Microsoft OneDrive account or at a SharePoint location. You can also save your documents to  your Dropbox account.
Microsoft have said that the previews for the apps generated more than 250,000 downloads across 33 languages in more than 110 countries. So I guess with those kind of figures the finalised versions of the suite will go down a storm.
